When researching kitchen cabinet prices in Singapore, start by asking whether a quoted rate covers upper cabinets, base cabinets or both. A low headline number is difficult to compare if one quotation measures a single row and another combines two rows.
Meerkat Home's reference rate is S$275 per foot run for upper cabinets and S$275 per foot run for base cabinets. Full-height units use a separate reference rate of S$549/pfr up to 2.7m. These are budget references, subject to the final specification and written quotation. Our whole-home custom cabinetry minimum project spend is S$15,000; the kitchen calculations below are component examples.
Calculate upper and base cabinets separately
For a straight kitchen with 3m of upper cabinets and 3m of base cabinets, using our estimating convention of 3.3ft per metre:
- Upper cabinets: 3 × 3.3 × S$275 = S$2,722.50.
- Base cabinets: 3 × 3.3 × S$275 = S$2,722.50.
- Combined cabinet reference subtotal: S$5,445.
This is not a complete kitchen renovation price. It does not establish the inclusion of a countertop, appliances, plumbing, electrical work or site preparation. Ask for the tax-inclusive final payable amount and an explicit installation and delivery scope.
Why a galley or L-shaped kitchen needs a measured drawing
Corner intersections, appliance openings and tall storage affect the billable lengths. Do not simply add every wall length from a floor plan. Ask the designer to mark the upper, base and tall cabinet runs in different colours and explain corner treatment. A fridge opening should be identifiable separately from storage above or beside it.
For a BTO kitchen, begin with the sink, hob and refrigerator positions, then map preparation and storage around them. For a resale kitchen, the condition of existing walls and services may introduce work outside the cabinet scope.
Where to spend on kitchen fittings
A useful drawer near the cooking area can be more valuable than a decorative feature that is rarely used. List what each compartment will hold, then specify the relevant runner, hinge or pull-out. A corner organiser, powered lift or specialised pantry system should appear as a named option with its own cost.
Our kitchen collection includes examples of cookware drawers, pull-out spice storage and lift systems. Displayed configurations illustrate possibilities; they do not establish which fittings are included in a reference price.
Ask these questions about the countertop
- Which material, brand, thickness and colour are specified?
- Are sink and hob cut-outs included?
- Are upstands, backsplash, edge profiles and joints itemised?
- Who coordinates measurement after the cabinets are installed?
- Which party handles plumbing reconnection and sealing?
For a kitchen cabinet quotation, a separate worktop line makes comparison easier. Do not apply the cabinet per-foot rate to stone surfaces or assume a countertop is free because it appears in a photograph.
Frequently asked questions
Are top and bottom cabinets S$550 per foot combined?
If both rows have the same billable length and each uses the S$275 reference rate, their combined arithmetic rate is S$550 for that matched length. Different lengths and specifications must be calculated separately.
Does a tall pantry use the same rate as a base unit?
No. Full-height units have a separate reference rate and height conditions. Internal pantry mechanisms may add to the quoted amount.
